Beard Transplant Istanbul Turkey

What is Beard Transplantation?

Thanks to the hair transplantation procedures that have become popular in recent years, it has become possible to easily transplant hair to areas such as the beard, mustache, and goatee. Successful results are achieved through operations performed in cases of hair loss or shedding in these areas due to genetics or other reasons.

The solution to problems such as scars, surgical scars, burn scars, or hair loss in beard, mustache, or goatee areas can be achieved through beard transplantation. Even in cases where there has been no growth in beard, mustache, or goatee areas, transplantation can be successfully performed.

The FUE method, which is defined as the process of transplanting hair follicles taken only from the back of the head, is preferred in beard transplantation. This is because satisfactory results cannot be achieved in beard, mustache, or goatee areas with the FUT method. Thin blades with a tip of 0.6-0.7 mm should be used during the process of collecting hair follicles, that is, when grafts are taken.

Stages of Beard Transplant

Preparation for Beard Transplantation

The area where the beard will be transplanted is disinfected. Anesthesia is also applied. The preparation stage is the stage that determines the comfort of the operation.

Collection of Hair Roots

Hair follicles are collected with cylindrical needles called micro motors that rotate at low speeds. The route followed during this stage affects the success of beard transplantation.

Transplantation of Hair Roots

Hair roots taken with the FUE method are transplanted to beard, mustache, and goatee areas. This procedure should be performed by a professional and experienced team. The angle of the transplants in the facial area is very important.

How Many Grafts Should Be Planted in Beard Transplantation?

Generally, when 500 to 1,000 grafts are transplanted to someone without a mustache, the existing corner appearance disappears. In beard transplantation, 1,000 to 2,500 grafts are sufficient. In goatee transplantation, transplantation can be performed between 750 and 1,500 grafts.

After beard transplantation, there are some important points to consider for a successful and natural-looking result. The post-operative period is just as important as the surgery itself, and following the recommendations of the doctor and patient representatives is crucial to avoid any negative events.

In the beard, mustache, and sideburn areas, the transplanted area can be washed after 3 days to reveal the newly transplanted hairs and create a 2-3 day beard appearance. After 6-7 days, any pinkness should disappear. Grafts taken from the arms, legs, chest, or neck will not leave any scars.

During the first week after the transplant, mimicking movements should be avoided as much as possible, and liquid drinks and pureed foods are recommended. Dressings should be removed after 7 days.

Over time, hair follicles transplanted to the mustache area may also grow. After 8-9 days, the roots should be sufficiently held to allow for shaving or trimming with scissors. After this point, the transplanted area can be shaved and cut like normal.

Around 3 weeks after the transplant, some temporary shedding may occur in certain parts of the transplanted beard and mustache. However, within 4-6 months, all of the hairs should grow back. The quality of the hair follicles will continue to improve for up to 2 years.
